GILLES ET ANNIE COPÉRET, ÉPICURIENS ET VIGNERONS DU BEAUJOLAIS

Gilles and Annie Copéret: A Journey Through Beaujolais
Starting with just two hectares in 1986 and a cellar with an earthenware vat, Gilles Copéret has significantly expanded his vineyard and reputation. Today, he cultivates eight hectares across Régnié, Fleurie, Morgon, and Brouilly. These eight hectares translate into eight distinct cuvées.
Now, the once earthenware vat is stainless steel, the press is pneumatic, and the cellar is climate-controlled to create exceptional wines. Let’s take a quick look at his journey and a presentation of his wines, which are perfect for discovering the crus of Beaujolais.
A Legacy Passed from Grandfather to Grandson
Gilles inherited his initial two hectares of vines and his passion for viticulture from his grandfather. At that time, the estate didn't sell directly to customers but instead sold its grape production to merchants. Passionate about the vineyard and married to Annie, the daughter of a winemaker, Gilles developed his business as a winemaker and now sells his own cuvées. The richness of interactions with his customers, the human connection that exists in the world of wine, and the freedom of working for oneself have motivated him throughout his projects and over the years.
Gilles passionately maintains this connection with both people and the land, dedicating endless time to it. Along with his team, they achieved the TERRA VITIS label in 2018, a certification for responsible and eco-friendly viticulture, and they are currently in the process of obtaining HVE certification.
Some of the parcels he cultivates belong to a Winegrowing Land Group founded with friends, customers, and family. Friendliness is truly at the heart of the estate's philosophy.
Gamay in All Its Colors
The wines from the estate showcase four of Beaujolais' crus: Régnié, Fleurie, Morgon, and Brouilly. On these diverse terroirs, a single grape variety—Gamay—is expressed. The estate's various cuvées highlight Beaujolais wines and the variety that can exist thanks to the subtle variations in terroir.
In the Fleurie appellation, you can find the “Les Roches” cuvée, powerful, concentrated, and complex; as well as the “La Madone” cuvée, subtle, elegant, with notes of roses and peonies. The difference? A sandy-clay soil for the first cuvée, and a granitic soil for the second.
In the Régnié appellation, Gilles produces three different cuvées:
- A Régnié “Les Côtes”: a robust red wine;
- A Régnié “Les Chastys”: a fruity red wine;
- And a Régnié signature, the “Equation” cuvée: an atypical and powerful Gamay with notes of tea and soft spices.
With this producer, you can also explore the terroirs of Morgon and Brouilly, as well as a Beaujolais rosé. Gilles Copéret's wines take you on a journey through Beaujolais. Each wine is different, representing its soil, the identity of each appellation, and the specific characteristics of each parce
