LE CHÂTEAU SAINT-MAUR, UN CRU CLASSÉ DE PROVENCE

Château Saint-Maur: A Cru Classé from Provence
Since its acquisition in 2011 by Roger Zannier, the owner of Quinta do Pessegueiro in the Douro (Portugal), Château Saint-Maur has experienced a renaissance. This Cru Classé of Provence was one of the 18 estates established in 1955 at the forefront of the Provençal vineyard. Today, it is under the guidance of Roger Zannier's son-in-law, Marc Monrose, that this terroir is expressed in the most beautiful way. The bottles from this estate, located in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, are distinguished both by their unique shape and the quality of the wine they contain. According to the estate's mantra, every memory has a flavor. So why not give your memories a unique flavor of Provence?
An Exceptional Terroir in AOC Côtes de Provence
The region was one of the first in France where vineyards, introduced by the Romans, flourished. It is no surprise, then, that one finds both Gallo-Roman remains and an ideal terroir here. The vineyards stretch along the hillside, benefiting from excellent exposure from east to west. They are shielded from the strong Mistral winds by the Maures massif, which stands behind them, and enjoy a mild Mediterranean influence. The vineyard covers around one hundred hectares and boasts a rich diversity of soils: predominantly clay-limestone, mica-schist at the forest's edge, and sandy-loam at the lower elevations.
In the heights of the hills, the estate holds the highest vine in the Provençal vineyard. This vine reaches an altitude of 449 meters on the Clos de Capelune plot, which lends its name to the estate's flagship cuvée.
Three Major Wine Ranges for Every Occasion
The estate offers three main ranges and a special cuvée. These cuvées reflect both their parcels of origin and different occasions. The wines produced under IGP Provence allow for the discovery of the lower parcels, on the sandy-loam soils bordering the river. These accessible pleasure wines are ideal for bringing the sunshine of Saint-Tropez to moments shared with friends. Within the controlled appellation of Côtes de Provence, the Saint-M Cru Classé range offers excellent wines with an unbeatable price-to-pleasure ratio. For grand gastronomic occasions, the estate showcases all its expertise through the Excellence Cru Classé bottles.
Finally, the highest parcel in Provence has its own cuvée: the Clos de Capelune Cru Classé. Finesse and elegance guaranteed.
