As its name suggests, this vineyard is located in the South-West of France, between the Massif Central and the Pyrenees, and extends over 11 departments (Aveyron, Dordogne, Gers, Haute-Garonne, Hautes-Pyrénées, Lot, Lot-et-Garonne, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Landes). It includes the AOC Béarn.

The appellation area of this AOC extends to the west of the city of Pau over some 270 hectares of soils mainly composed of limestone. Vines of tannat and raffiat de Moncade among others, subject to the favorable micro-climate and oceanic influences of this geographical area, are planted in this appellation and allow the production of white, rosé and red wines. The latter, which can be kept for between 2 and 5 years, are full-bodied and with very present tannins. Rosés are recognizable by their fruity mouthfeel and, like whites, are drunk in their youth.
