VINCENT WENGIER, THE NEW CHABLIS NUGGET

Vincent Wengier: A Rising Star in Chablis
Although Vincent's family has been working the Chablis vineyard for three generations, it was only in 2018 that they began marketing their own bottles. For the past twenty years, Vincent has taken over from his grandfather and father at the family estate. Located in the small village of Préhy, at the foot of the village's Notre-Dame Church, his vineyard produces high-quality grapes recognized in AOC Chablis, AOC Petit Chablis, AOC Bourgogne, and AOC Bourgogne Aligoté. It was only two years ago, in 2018, that Vincent Wengier decided to put his name on his own bottles. Since then, he has been leveraging his production and deep knowledge of the Chablis terroir to the delight of the public. And the beginnings are more than promising...
Two Years in Existence, Many Awards
Vincent decided to market his own bottles because he wanted to create wines he loves, seeking richness, roundness, and silkiness in each bottle. A true artisan and wine lover, he is certified Haute Valeur Environnementale and is in the process of converting to organic farming. In just two years of existence and two vintages, he has already garnered numerous recognitions. All his bottles have received at least two medals since the 2018 vintage, his first. The award of his first medals at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris remains one of his fondest memories as a winemaker. His passion for wine was ignited during his viticulture and oenology studies in Beaune, where he was captivated by the detail and complexity of the elements that create great wine. The latest accolade? His estate recently featured on the cover of “Le Point” magazine. All signs indicate that this new estate is on a very promising path.
Fresh and Mineral Wines, Typical of Chablis
The wines from this estate elegantly and refreshingly showcase the Chablis terroir. Recently awarded and still relatively new in reputation, they are highly promising.
-
Bourgogne Aligoté: This wine offers a pure expression of the Aligoté grape. Mineral, fresh, vibrant, and flavorful, it is decidedly refreshing.
-
Chardonnay AOC Bourgogne: This Chardonnay from the northern part of Burgundy expresses notes of flower honey, dried fruits, and white fruits, with the smoky touch so characteristic of Chablis.
-
Petit Chablis : The 2018 vintage benefited from exceptional conditions, resulting in a wine that is tangy, mineral, and fruity with elegant floral notes.
-
AOC Chablis: The flagship cuvée combines the typical mineral, smoky notes of the region with citrus and white flower notes typical of Chardonnay. A round and delightful wine.
