Portraits of winemakers
DOMAINE LES CASSAGNES, THOMAS ROGER: A YOUNG WINEGROWER IN LOVE WITH THE LAND

Domaine les Cassagnes: A Legacy of Passion and Tradition
Thomas, a young winegrower, shares the story of Domaine les Cassagnes, a 40-hectare vineyard spread across the communes of Gardie, Villebazy, and Saint-Hilaire, which has been passed down from father to son for several generations.
A Family Tradition in Winemaking
Thomas is passionate about wine. When his father invited him to join the family vineyard in 2010, he didn’t hesitate for a second. At that time, Thomas was working for a company that sold organic agricultural treatment products. Today, Thomas manages both roles, balancing his responsibilities as a winemaker with his commercial activities.
"I’ve always felt a deep attachment to the property. In a way, I’ve always known I would take over my father’s vineyard. It’s a true family tradition."
Elegant and Affordable Wines
The Domaine les Cassagnes offers a range of five sparkling wines and one red wine, distinguished by their elegance and finesse, as well as their excellent value for money. This is a principle dear to Thomas, who aims to produce wines that are "accessible to everyone," both in terms of taste and price.
Commitment to Sustainable Viticulture
Thomas is also deeply committed to environmentally friendly viticulture methods. As a true lover of the land, he actively engages in eco-friendly winegrowing projects. The latest initiative is "Les Vignerons de Limoux," an ecological and economic interest group advocating for top-quality viticulture in the Upper Aude Valley.
"We have been practicing sustainable viticulture for years. We strive to balance environmental protection with landscape preservation, for our benefit and for our consumers."
Embracing Oenotourism and History
Thomas is passionate about oenotourism and the history of winemaking. He aspires to expand the activities around his domain by offering tasting courses and vineyard walks. His dream? To combine his two passions by creating a museum dedicated to vintage winemaking tools
