Over time, Sieur d’Arques has invested in specialized equipment to showcase the effervescent wines of Limoux to consumers. Today, nearly 195 winemakers have joined this venture, and the Sieur d’Arques collective continues to evolve with a pioneering and audacious spirit.

A Cooperative System Supporting Local Vignerons

Sieur d’Arques is primarily a cooperative system that enables small winemakers in the region to continue thriving from their land work. It stands as a proud advocate of societal values and is deeply committed to preserving the cultural, gastronomic, and architectural heritage of the Limoux region. Through its annual Toques & Clochers auction, the collective contributes to the renovation of village bell towers in Limoux. Over the years, more than one million euros have been raised.

Showcasing a Unique Terroir

The vineyards of Sieur d’Arques stretch across the Limoux region, from the Haute-Vallée de l’Aude to the foothills of the Pyrenees, thriving between garrigue and pines. Proud of this sun-kissed, authentic region, the collective is dedicated to preserving this green and biodiverse haven.

In recent years, Sieur d’Arques has focused on environmentally respectful agriculture and more responsible practices. Nearly 80% of the lands are certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE), and soon all the vineyards of the collective will be HVE-certified. This close-to-nature approach allows Sieur d’Arques to highlight the Limoux terroir in its cuvées and offer wines from estates that care for both the environment and the winemakers.

The Tradition of Effervescent Wines from Limoux

Sieur d’Arques aims to emphasize the ancient practice of effervescent wines in Limoux. The region claims the pioneering status of sparkling wines in France and worldwide, with historical documents dating back to 1544. At that time, Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Saint-Hilaire began producing sparkling wines.

Sieur d’Arques offers sparkling wines characterized by finesse and elegance. Hand-harvested and crafted using either the Traditional Method or the Ancestral Method depending on the cuvée, these effervescent wines increasingly attract consumers. The Crémant "Première Bulle Rosée" is a favorite cuvée of the collective. With its unmatched value for money, this magnum ages beautifully and provides freshness and fruitiness for your desserts and aperitifs. The "Chardo sans sulfite" cuvée is also highly regarded by consumers seeking more environmentally friendly wines that represent their terroir.
