CHÂTEAU LESTRILLE, BETWEEN FAMILY TRADITION AND INNOVATION

Château Lestrille: A Blend of Family Tradition and Innovation
Managed by the Roumage family since 1901, this 38-hectare estate perfectly embodies the identity of the Bordeaux region, where each vineyard parcel is cultivated with deep respect and unique expertise. Family transmission is the cornerstone of Château Lestrille, where ancestral practices and innovations come together to create exceptional wines.
Château Lestrille: A Commitment to Sustainable Agriculture
Under the careful watch of passionate and dedicated winemakers, Château Lestrille is committed to responsible agriculture, transitioning from reasoned pest management to organic farming, certified in 2023. This approach perfectly illustrates Château Lestrille’s commitment to sustainable viticulture and respect for biodiversity. These efforts are further highlighted by their collaboration with the Bee Friendly association since 2021.
Château Lestrille: A Legacy in Harmony with Nature
Driven by a spirit of innovation, Château Lestrille continually pursues ambitious projects to enhance its wine offerings while preserving the local ecosystem. The diversity of Bordeaux varietals, including four white and three red, fully expresses the unique character of their clay-limestone terroir. The meticulous care of the vines, avoidance of chemical herbicides, and adoption of cover crops reflect the harmony between Château Lestrille and its natural environment. Furthermore, the implementation of flowering fallow lands to support pollinator populations underscores their commitment to positively contributing to the ecological health of the region.
The wines of Château Lestrille reflect this ethical philosophy, with each cuvée telling a story of a cherished terroir and a family united by a passion for wine. In this spirit, Château Lestrille looks to the future with plans to further develop biodiversity on their estate and expand their wine range to meet the expectations of authentic wine enthusiasts who respect nature.
Château Lestrille: The Spirit of Sharing and Passion
Château Lestrille is also the site of small stories that weave together the grand narrative of this vibrant estate. Celebrating the 120th anniversary of the estate with a special cuvée from their oldest parcel is one such story. The first vines planted in 1948 by the great-grandfather of our winemaker symbolize the pride and continuity of this precious family heritage. This anecdote highlights the importance of transmission, sharing, and excellence—values at the heart of Château Lestrille’s identity.
Open to the world and enriched by her experience in producing fine white wines in New Zealand, Estelle Roumage appreciates wine in all its facets. As she likes to remind us, “the beauty of wine lies in its diversity, the tasting moment, the dishes, and the people with whom it is shared.” Between tradition and innovation, Château Lestrille represents a new breath in Bordeaux wines, promising an unforgettable tasting experience. The estate’s motto, “Château Lestrille, the château that awakens the taste buds!” is not just a slogan but an invitation to taste, as what drives Château Lestrille is the love of wine and the emotions their cuvées convey to their clients.
