The Arbois Controlled designation of origin is part of the Jura vineyard and spreads around the town of Arbois where the vines stand on typical marl soils.
The Jura terroir is mainly known for its famous straw wines for aperitif or dessert but also for its unique yellow wines.
The straw wine, with its particular aromas, is obtained after drying the grapes on straw to concentrate their sugar level before fermentation. This results in a sweet and powerful wine with candied fruits flavours.
The yellow wine is obtained by a late harvest and a long maturation in oak barrels under a yeast veil. This results in wines with complex nuts, hazelnut, toast, and honey aromas.
Besides these particularly specific cuvées, the wine-makers also produce white, rosé and red wines, as well as crémant.
