Domaine Jaume: A Century-Old Family Tradition in Vinsobres

The Jaume family's history in winemaking began with Henri Chauvet and Baron Le Roy, the founder of the AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée). Henri's son-in-law, Pierre Jaume, played a pivotal role in developing the estate, which was later handed down to his son, Claude. Under Claude's leadership in the 1960s, Domaine Jaume rose to prominence as one of the finest estates in the region. In the 1980s, Claude’s sons, Pascal and Richard, took the reins, and in 2005, they proudly celebrated the centenary of Domaine Jaume.

Terroir of Domaine Jaume: Two Distinct Vinsobres Landscapes

Domaine Jaume spans 80 hectares in the prestigious Vinsobres appellation, located in the Côtes du Rhône, Drôme Provençale. The estate’s vines are planted across two of the four distinct terroirs that define the Cru of Vinsobres: Coteau (slopes) and Collines (hills).

  • Coteau: A clay-limestone terroir with shallow and deep limestone layers, offering uneven rockiness. The altitude of this area averages 250 meters, contributing to the region's distinctive character.

  • Collines: A geologically rugged area, crossed by two large valleys. This terroir, with a soil mix of clay, silt, and sand, benefits from significant sun exposure, and the altitude ranges from 350 meters, with some plots reaching up to 470 meters.

This exceptional combination of terroirs, along with a dedication to quality, enables Domaine Jaume to produce wines that reflect the full potential of Vinsobres’ unique landscape.
