DOMAINE TERRE DES 2 SOURCES

Domaine Terre des 2 Sources
A Historical Gem in the Heart of Terrasses du Larzac
At the heart of the Domaine Terre des 2 Sources lies a 40-hectare expanse nestled in an unspoiled valley north of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation. The name not only reflects the two streams meandering through the landscape but also the union of two visionary couples eager to create wines that are both refined, elegant, and balanced. The tradition of viticulture in this valley dates back to ancient times, with Roman conquests establishing vineyards in the region. The estate’s ancient roots are deeply embedded in the soil of Montoulieu, where a Gallo-Roman villa once stood.
In this historically rich location, the Damais family, with vision and perseverance, resurrected an estate that was almost abandoned. For nearly 50 years, the family introduced high-quality grape varieties and founded one of the first private cellars in the region. The story took a new turn in 2018 when Hélène Taillefer, with her international travels and experiences, met Kirsten and Glen Creasy, a New Zealand oenologist and viticulture professor. Together, they shaped Domaine Terre des 2 Sources, merging tradition and modernity into an exceptional human adventure.
A Modern Approach to Wine with Nature as a Legacy
Protected by the majestic Massif du Bois de Monnier, Domaine Terre des 2 Sources is a haven rich in biodiversity. Indeed, numerous bird species (nearly 150), such as the European Bee-eater, inhabit this natural area, adding an exotic touch to the landscape. These birds are somewhat of mascots for Domaine Terre des 2 Sources, featured on most of the labels. Inspired by this natural setting, the cuvée "Amourettes" proudly displays an illustration by artist François Cayol, capturing the very essence of the estate.
The estate's ecological vision extends beyond this. With a priority to preserve this lush nature for future generations, transitioning to organic viticulture is deemed essential for Domaine Terre des 2 Sources. Consequently, the 2023 harvest will mark the beginning of this new organic era for the estate!
Domaine Terre des 2 Sources: Harmonious Wines for the Future
Domaine Terre des 2 Sources is resolutely forward-looking, with several ambitious plans in place. Restructuring is underway, including the planting of resistant grape varieties, marking a new step in the estate's ecological and sustainable evolution. Moreover, special attention is given to wine tourism, allowing enthusiasts and curious visitors to discover this hidden gem of Languedoc.
The passion for viticulture is palpable at Domaine Terre des 2 Sources. Each day is unique, with its share of challenges and surprises. One of the most cherished memories is the joy felt during the first planting of Chenin and Grenache. This unique moment remains etched in memory, symbolizing a key milestone in the estate's transformation. Among the white, red, and rosé wines produced by Domaine Terre des 2 Sources, the cuvée "Caprices - blanc," a fine and complex Viognier, holds a special place in the winemakers' hearts. Thus, Domaine Terre des 2 Sources embodies the perfect symbiosis of history, nature, and passion, offering wines with exceptional quality-to-price ratios that are a must-try!
