The Beaujolais vineyard is located in the Centre-East of France. Celebrated for the famous Beaujolais Nouveau, this region located between the Mâconnais and the Rhone Valley is home to many other vintages, such as the AOC Vin de France sparkling rosé.

Created in 2009, the Vin de France (VDF) appellation includes all "Wines Without Geographical Indication" (VSIG), i.e. which are neither "Appellations d'Origine Controlée" (AOC) nor "Protected Geographical Indications" (IGP).

This is explained by the fact that some winemakers use grape varieties different from those imposed by the specifications of the appellation, or that they plant the vines on plots that are not part of the appellation area. A sign of "low-end" wine for many, VDFs can sometimes simply be original wines, with unconventional winemaking methods.
