In the departments of Savoie and Jura, on the border with Switzerland, there is a small, little-known vineyard, that of Savoie-Bugey. It is home to the AOC Pétillant de Savoie.

As with the AOC Vin de Savoie, the appellation area of this regional AOC extends over the territory of 51 communes spread over 4 departments (Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Ain and Isère) on some 1,800 hectares of soils with very variable composition. Chasselas, Chardonnay, Jacquère, Aligoté, Gamay and Pinot Noir vines, among others, subject to the continental climate and the multiple influences (Mediterranean and oceanic) of this geographical area, are planted in this appellation and make it possible to produce sparkling white and rosé wines (whose bottle pressure is less than 2.5 bars). Known for their great diversity, these fairly light and fruity wines most often express the characteristics of the terroir on which they were produced as well as the grape varieties used.
