In the northwest of France, the Loire vineyard extends from the Massif Central to Nantes over some 70,000 hectares of vines. It is known for the Chinon, Bourgueil and Pouilly-Fumé appellations, among others. The AOC Orléans is also found there.

The appellation area of this AOC extends in the Loire Valley over some 150 hectares of soils mainly composed of sand and gravel. Chardonnay (white Auvergne) and Pinot Meunier (black Auvergne) vines, subject to the temperate climate and continental influences of this geographical area, are planted in this appellation and produce white, rosé and red wines. Fine and balanced, the latter are marked by an aromatic bouquet of red fruits (redcurrant, blackcurrant). The rosés are fresh and just as fruity. The white wines are delicate and fine and they develop a bouquet marked by citrus fruits (lemon, mandarin) and almond.
