In the northwest of France, the Loire vineyard extends from the Massif Central to Nantes over some 70,000 hectares of vines. It is known for the Chinon, Bourgueil and Pouilly-Fumé appellations, among others. The Muscadet-Coteaux de la Loire AOC is also found there.

The appellation area of this AOC extends over both banks of the Loire to the northeast of the city of Nantes over some 210 hectares of soils mainly composed of eruptive and metamorphic rocks. Melon de Bourgogne vines, subject to the temperate climate and oceanic influences of this geographical area, are planted in this appellation and produce white wines that can be kept for a long time (from 2 to 5 years and beyond for certain vintages). These wines are powerful, full-bodied, ample and rich, and they reveal a rich aromatic bouquet (violet, exotic fruits, citrus fruits, white flowers, minerality).
