In the south of France, the very sunny vineyard of Languedoc-Roussillon extends over more than 240,000 hectares from Nîmes to Leucate (Aude), making it one of the largest vineyards in the world. It includes the AOC Collioure.

The appellation area of this AOC extends over the territory of the communes of Collioure, Banyuls, Cerbère and Port-Vendres on some 615 hectares of soils mainly composed of schist. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Cinsault vines, subject to the Mediterranean climate of this geographical area, are planted in this appellation and produce white, rosé and red wines. Although very expressive of their respective terroirs, the wines of this appellation have in common their power and aromatic richness, which ranges from red fruits to spices and violets.
