In the northwest of France, the Loire vineyard extends from the Massif Central to Nantes over some 70,000 hectares of vines. It is known for the Chinon, Bourgueil and Pouilly-Fumé appellations, among others. The Cabernet d'Anjou AOC is also found there.

The appellation area of this AOC extends into the Maine-et-Loire department and merges with that of the Anjou AOC over some 4,450 hectares of soils mainly composed of schist. Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, subject to the temperate climate and oceanic influences of this geographical area, are planted in this appellation and produce rosé wines that can be kept for between 1 and 2 years and up to 5 years for certain vintages. These intense and powerful wines are characterized by their aromatic complexity (fig, apricot, pear, plum, hawthorn, acacia, honey, etc.). These very balanced wines are fresh and round in the mouth. They express a complex aromatic bouquet (peach, raspberry, pear, redcurrant, pepper, rose or even bell pepper), which opens with aromas of candied fruits, especially for the sunniest vintages.
