As its name suggests, this vineyard is located in the South-West of France, between the Massif Central and the Pyrenees, and extends over 11 departments (Aveyron, Dordogne, Gers, Haute-Garonne, Hautes-Pyrénées, Lot, Lot-et-Garonne, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Landes). It includes the AOC Bergerac sec.
The appellation area of this AOC extends over the territory of 93 communes on both banks of the Dordogne on some 13,000 hectares of soils mainly composed of limestone, clay, sand, silt and boulbènes. Muscadelle, Sauvignon, Ugni Blanc and Sémillon vines, among others, subject to the oceanic climate of this geographical area, are planted in this appellation and produce lively, aromatic and long-lasting dry white wines.
