Caves du Commandeur: A Terroir of Excellence in Provence
Located in Montfort-sur-Argens, in the Var department, Caves du Commandeur is situated on one of the most beautiful terroirs of the legendary Provence Verte, nestled between the Mediterranean coast and the Verdon Gorge.
The vineyard spans 500 hectares across nine communes (Montfort, Correns, Cotignac, Carcès, Salernes, Le Val, Le Thoronet, Villecroze, and Entrecasteaux) and three appellations: AOC Côtes de Provence, AOC Coteaux Varois en Provence, and IGP Var. Benefiting from an exceptionally sunny climate, with higher average temperatures than the rest of central Var, and the consistent presence of the Mistral wind, the winemakers carefully guide the vine's cycle by respecting nature and combining traditional methods with modern techniques.
Commitment to Sustainable and Quality Viticulture
All wines are made using environmentally respectful viticulture practices, with ongoing goals to select the best parcels, produce healthy and high-quality grapes, preserve the natural environment, and maintain long-term soil balance. The majority of the vineyard is trained using the Royat cordon system, allowing for better yield management. Mechanical harvesting ensures a quick response time, enabling the grapes to be picked at optimal maturity, often during the cooler night hours.
The wines produced are refined and elegant, regularly winning awards at prestigious wine competitions.
