Domaine La Bergerade: A Unique Terroir Between Tradition, Quality, and Environmental Respect
The Domaine La Bergerade, a former 17th-century sheepfold, had fallen into partial ruin over the years before being revived by Jean-Pierre and Virginie. After extensive renovation work, they took over the estate with the goal of producing exceptional wines while respecting the environment and terroir. They transitioned to organic farming, replanted certain plots, and reduced yields to concentrate the flavors and aromas of the wines. Significant improvements were also made to the cellar to ensure optimal winemaking.
An Exceptional Terroir and Privileged Climate for Unique Wines
The estate's vines, averaging 30 years of age, benefit from an ideal Mediterranean climate for viticulture. The soil, made up of rolled pebbles on a clay base, allows the wines to express all the richness and specificity of this region in the Rhône Valley. The Mistral, a constant and invigorating wind, helps maintain the health of the vines by drying out excess moisture. Under a generous sun, the estate produces wines with character, thanks to an exceptional microclimate influenced by the humidity of the nearby Camargue ponds, which enriches the wines' distinctiveness.
