Joseph Mellot is a historic family-owned business with roots in Sancerre for over five centuries. The story begins in 1513 with Pierre-Etienne Mellot, the first of a long lineage of winemakers. In the late 17th century, César Mellot became an advisor to King Louis XIV. Over the generations, the Joseph Mellot estate, starting with its namesake domain, has become a true ambassador for the great wines of Centre-Loire. Since 2005, I have passionately and skillfully carried on the work of my husband Alexandre and his ancestors.

Joseph Mellot is deeply committed to its core values and remains independent. The company has long been dedicated to sustainable and eco-responsible viticulture: soil management, yield control, plot monitoring, mechanical weeding... Laurent Goussard, our vineyard manager, and his team strive to respect the land and the vines, harvesting grapes each autumn with great potential. With nearly 100 hectares of vineyards fully managed under certified High Environmental Value (HVE) sustainable practices, Joseph Mellot operates across all eight appellations of Centre-Loire: Sancerre, the historic home of the family of winemakers, Pouilly-Fumé and Pouilly-sur-Loire, Menetou-Salon, Reuilly, Quincy, Châteaumeillant, and Coteaux du Giennois. Among our carefully tended vineyards, the Domaine des Emois is certified organic. The same meticulous standards apply in winemaking: at the Joseph Mellot winery, certified ISO14001 since 2009, every effort is made to minimize the environmental impact of our activities. Our winemaker, Norbert Buchonnet, and his team produce exceptional wines that are regularly awarded and receive high ratings in major guides. Each wine beautifully represents the richness and diversity of the Centre-Loire terroirs. Together with my teams, I strive every day to combine sustainable development with a commitment to quality... Each of our wines is the finest signature of this dedication!
