A Place of History

Our family estate extended over 10 hectares is, and that rarely occurs, 70% located in the « Grand Cru Goldert » location, which heart is the Clos Saint-Imer. This is a 5 hectares vineyard well-known for its iconic cuvees of Gewurztraminer and Muscat, that have a long-keeping potential. Land of reference since the Middle Ages, its history is closely linked to a historical monument's one : the most beautiful roman steeple that can be found in Gueberschwihr, one of the oldest wine growing village of the Alsace department, in the South of Colmar.

Bring back to life an abandoned vineyard

It's with a lot of faith and courage that Ernest Burn, from 1934, has given a new life to this historical estate, that had been abandoned after the phylloxera devastation, the wars and the difficulties of manual work.

Located between 270 and 350 meters above the sea level, with a steep slope of 40-50%, a South-East exposure and long screes retaining heat and protect the plots from the wind, this limestone hillside benefits from a privileged microclimate. This explains the wines' quality, greeted as following : « they offer one of the best price-quality ratio that can be found in Alsace » (Bernard Burtschy, Ian D’Agata, Le Petit Futé, Le Routard)…

We invite you to come and discover our cuvees, produced in compliance with their outstanding terroir, the ancestral knowledge and the gift of nature, that changes for each vintage and is reflected in each variety with a great harmony. And, if one day your path leads you to the vineyard's landscape of vines, forests and Renaissance houses of Gueberschwihr, at the 8 of the rue basse - with its oriel, its "Au Dauphin" 's sign and its viorbe staircase in the yellow sandstone tower of 1623 -in our high cellar full of oak barrels, each wine will tell you its story.
