Terra-Vitis and HVE3 Certification at Domaine des Souterrains

Founded in 1820, the family-owned Domaine des Souterrains saw a new chapter in 2011 when the Goumin family handed over the reins to Nicolas Mazzesi and his wife Catherine.

A former medical professional, Nicolas Mazzesi pursued viticulture training at the Lycée Viticole d'Amboise. In 2012, the estate earned the Terra-Vitis certification, followed by HVE3 (High Environmental Value) certification in 2020. As part of their commitment to quality and sustainability, the estate reduced the sulfur content in their cuvées to 56 mg for whites and 26 mg for reds.

Two years later, deeply in love with the region, Nicolas Mazzesi acquired the Château de Selles-sur-Cher, rescuing it from near abandonment. With a passion for history, he and his wife renovated the château, establishing a winery and creating the "Cuvées Château", thus reviving the château's viticultural heritage.
