History and Family Legacy of Château Pierre-Bise
The history of Château Pierre-Bise began in 1959 when Pierre Papin purchased the estate. From the 1970s to the 1990s, his son Claude Papin expanded the vineyard, increasing its size and integrating new appellations, including Savennières. As early as 1976, the family committed to organic farming practices, influenced by trophobiosis principles, and focused on studying the typicity of the terroirs. They promoted natural grass cover to improve soil health and biodiversity. Today, the vineyard spans 45 hectares, with new parcels acquired in 2004.
A Rich Terroir for Exceptional Wines
The estate is located in a region shaped by the Layon fault, which contributes to a diverse geological and climatic environment ideal for viticulture. The Chenin Blanc grape variety, with its roots dating back to the Middle Ages, flourishes here, producing wines of exceptional quality. In addition to Chenin, other varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Gamay are cultivated to produce a range of wines, each showcasing the unique characteristics of this renowned terroir.
