Château Mélin: An Exceptional Terroir in Libourne
Château Mélin is a family-owned vineyard located in Libourne, Gironde, producing wines from the AOC Saint-Emilion and Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellations. Spanning 10 hectares near the Dordogne River, the estate benefits from a micro-climate that is ideal for vine cultivation. The soils on the property, which date back to the Quaternary era, are sandy and gravelly brown soils. This healthy terroir is comparable to the famed terroirs of Pomerol and the western part of Saint-Emilion.
Traditional Winemaking at Château Mélin
The winemaking process at Château Mélin combines traditional methods such as submerged cap fermentation and aging in oak barrels. The bottling process takes place on-site at the château. The annual production of Château Mélin is approximately 20,000 bottles, with the prestige cuvée representing around 10 barrels, or 3,000 bottles.
