History and Heritage at Vignoble Lascaux

Founded in 1920, Vignobles Lascaux encompasses two distinct family estates. Château Lascaux, situated in Saint Martin du Bois in the Libournais region, is part of the Bordeaux appellation, while Château Tour Bel-Air, located in Saillans, is within the Fronsac appellation. In 1998, Fabrice Lascaux and his wife Sylvie took over the estate from Fabrice’s father, which initially covered just 4 hectares of vines. Since then, they have expanded the vineyard to 13 hectares by planting new vines and acquiring an additional 6 hectares. In 2007, they further broadened their portfolio by taking over Château Tour Bel-Air, which had previously belonged to Sylvie’s parents. Today, Vignobles Lascaux spans a total of 33 hectares across the Bordeaux and Fronsac appellations, producing a variety of wines, including red, white, rosé, clairet, and crémant.

In 2020, the estate began its ecological transition and achieved High Environmental Value (HVE) level 3 certification, emphasizing its commitment to sustainability.

A Terroir to Preserve

Situated on a sunny ridge, our vineyards are planted on a combination of gravel, clay, limestone, and sand soils, which contribute structure and elegance to our wines. More than 80% of our vines are planted on steep clay-limestone slopes, ensuring excellent natural drainage and optimal sun exposure. The 33-hectare vineyard is planted with a variety of grape varieties, with 30 hectares dedicated to red grapes (80% Merlot, 13.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6.5% Cabernet Franc) and 3 hectares dedicated to white grapes (61% Sauvignon Gris, 32% Sauvignon Blanc, 7% Muscadelle). To preserve this exceptional terroir, we practice "culture raisonnée," minimizing chemical interventions and promoting sustainability. We also plant grass between vineyard plots to reduce soil erosion and encourage biodiversity, supporting the development of beneficial insects and nematodes.
