Château Jérémie: A Vineyard in the Heart of Corbières

Nestled in the charming village of Fabrezan within the Corbières region, Château Jérémie brings to life the echoes of history, with memories of horses’ hooves and the armor of Cathar knights resonating through the Orbieu Valley. The vineyard spans vines aged from 7 to 80 years, most being around 40 years old, allowing it to showcase the richness of the terroir. At the village center, a semi-underground cellar, designed by a skilled craftsman, serves as the heart of winemaking.

In 2014, the cellar underwent a complete renovation, transforming it into a stunning architectural space. Two reception platforms—one entirely gravity-fed—allow for both traditional and carbonic maceration vinifications. Our first vintage, the 2015, was introduced in 2016 after a 12-month aging in new 50 hl conical oak foudres.

The Terroir of Château Jérémie

Situated at the foot of Mont Alaric, Château Jérémie covers 68 hectares across the Languedoc, Corbières, and Corbières Boutenac appellations. The vineyard benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with elevations ranging from 40 to 150 meters. The soils are rich in clay and limestone, with gravel, rolled pebbles, and sandstone.

Depending on the slope’s exposure, we have carefully selected Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Vermentino, and Viognier for planting. Harvesting is mostly done by hand, given the rugged terrain, and goblet pruning is used for Carignan and Grenache over 40 years old, while whites are trained in Guyot and reds in Cordon de Royat. Planting densities range from 5,400 to 7,200 vines per hectare, resulting in average yields of 45 hl/ha.

A Vineyard Rooted in Corbières Heritage

Strategically located between Carcassonne and Narbonne, Château Jérémie is deeply anchored in the Corbières terroir. Acquired by Jean-Claude Mas in 2015, this addition strengthens the estate’s viticultural legacy.

Diversity and Quality

Fully modernized, the estate's cellar ensures optimal conditions for careful winemaking. Oriented East-West, the vines, mostly around 20 years old, grow on clay-limestone and clay-loam soils. The 58 hectares are divided as follows: 6.5 ha in AOP Corbières Blanc, 19 ha in AOP Corbières Rouge, and 32.5 ha under the Pays d’Oc IGP appellation.
