Château du Bois-Huaut: Listening to the Vine
At Château du Bois-Huaut, our philosophy revolves around grape quality to produce wines with intense concentration and finesse. The richness of our terroir, coupled with a favourable climate, ideal sun exposure, and specialized expertise, enables us to craft exceptional wines that capture the essence of the land.
A Commitment to Quality Through Manual Harvesting
Only 1% of the vines in the Nantes area are harvested manually, and we take pride in using this traditional method to ensure the consistent quality of our wines. We leave nothing to chance, meticulously selecting the best grapes to create wines of character and distinction.
A Rich Family Heritage and Expanded Estate
The estate has been in the hands of the Brin family, followed by the Lussaud family, and today the Duret family, which shares a direct genealogical line. From its beginnings as a small mixed-farming operation, the estate transitioned to a focus on vine-growing and direct sales in 1984 with the arrival of Stéphane Duret. The estate expanded over the years, now covering 24 hectares with 14 different grape varieties.
Diverse Soils, Exceptional Terroir
Our 24-hectare estate spans three communes — Gorges, Mouzillon, and Clisson — each offering unique soils that contribute to the complexity of our wines:
- Clisson: Clay soil rich in flint and granite bedrock.
- Gorges: Siliceous clay with granite and mica schist veins, over a gabbro bedrock.
- Mouzillon: Clay-loam soil, underlain by gabbro bedrock.
Modernizing the Experience
In 2016, Luis Duret brought a modern touch to the estate, revitalizing the tasting cellar and creating a more welcoming space for visitors. The new, comfortable environment allows wine enthusiasts to fully enjoy our extensive range of wines, each reflecting the diverse soils and climates of our unique estate.
