The Vineyard and Environmental Commitment of Grégoire Basset

Located in the eastern part of Gironde, in the commune of Les Lèves et Thoumeyragues near the bastide of Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, Château des Bouhets is a property with a rich history. In 2013, Grégoire Basset took over the estate, alongside his partner Alison. The property has been in the family since 1932, making Grégoire the fourth generation to continue the winemaking legacy, following in the footsteps of his father Jean-Michel Basset. The Château des Bouhets estate is steeped in history, with its wine being vinified in a former Protestant temple built in 1827 under the reign of Charles X, King of France.

The 36-hectare vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir, with hillside slopes facing south-southeast, imparting distinctive typicity and character to the cuvées. Deeply committed to environmental sustainability, Grégoire Basset tends to his vines with the utmost respect for nature and is currently in the process of converting to organic farming.
