A SMALL CHÂTEAU WITH A GREAT HERITAGE, ICONIC WINES FROM A LIVING TERROIR
Founded around 1100 by the Benedictine monks of Cluny, Château des Bachelards is a winegrowing gem nestled in Fleurie, in the northern Beaujolais region. Its 18 hectares, including 6 in AOC Fleurie, also extend to parcels in Beaujolais Villages, Saint-Amour and Moulin-à-Vent.
A forerunner of biodynamic viticulture in the region, the estate has been cultivating its vines chemical-free since 2007, and holds three prestigious certifications: organic agriculture (FR-BIO-15), Demeter and Biodyvin. The Clos des Bachelards, Fleurie's historic monopole, is a rich ecosystem where the vines coexist harmoniously with the surrounding nature. To fully reveal its terroir, Château des Bachelards favors natural methods: no carbonic maceration, no artificial yeasts, and long aging in amphorae, concrete vats or foudres. Each wine expresses the soul of the place.
CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED WINES
Combining Burgundian elegance and Rhodanian gourmandise, Château des Bachelards wines offer a unique interpretation of Gamay. The Clos des Bachelards, the only Fleurie monopole to be awarded exceptional scores of 97 and 98/100 by James Suckling, stands out among France's finest wines.
