The History of Château de Valcombe

Located in Générac (30), Château de Valcombe benefits from the exceptional terroirs of the South-East of France, nestled between Provence and Languedoc. This estate, rich in history, saw its first vines planted in the 1750s. Charles Ricome, the great-grandfather of the two brothers currently leading the estate, made local history in 1955 by becoming the first to plant Syrah vines in the region. His goal was to revolutionize local practices by prioritizing quality over quantity, a principle that has been passed down through the Ricome family, ensuring continuous growth and evolution of the vineyard.

The Wines of Château de Valcombe

In 2009, brothers Basile and Nicolas Ricome decided to transition the estate to Organic Farming, with the goal of producing wines free from chemical residues. The estate is particularly recognized for its Costières de Nîmes appellation, benefiting from terroirs of rolled pebbles, Durance alluvium, and Rhône gravel.

The estate's red wines are primarily made from Syrah, complemented by Grenache and Mourvèdre, while its white wines have been produced since 2005, with Roussanne as the primary grape. This variety imparts a great finesse and freshness to the white wines, complemented by other varieties such as Marsanne, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, and Rolle (Vermentino).

The wines of Château de Valcombe benefit from an ideal terroir that imparts elegance, fruity aromas, remarkable freshness, and a long-lasting finish.
