The Importance of Biodiversity at Château de Sannes
Located in the heart of the Luberon Natural Park, near Ansouis, Château de Sannes offers a rich history, a sense of wonder, and a journey through authentic and hidden Provence.
The uniqueness and elegance of its terroir, at the confluence of Provence and the Rhône Valley, provide the ideal environment for cultivating vines, olive trees, and other crops using organic farming methods. The preservation of the estate’s rich biodiversity is a core value and foundation of their viticultural practices.
A Fresh Breath of Life at Château de Sannes
The Gattaz family acquired the estate in 2017 and works with a passionate, dedicated team that revived the Château de Sannes brand, dormant for over 20 years. The winery, with a 3000 hl capacity, includes 27 stainless steel tanks and 13 thermo-regulated concrete tanks. Certified ECOCERT for organic farming since 2020, the vineyard has planted 33 hectares with Grenache Noir, Syrah, Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, and Ugni Blanc.
The 73-hectare estate features 17th and 18th-century bastides and numerous points of interest, such as a Provençal windmill, a dovecote, French-style gardens, natural springs, a truffle orchard, and a forest. The vineyard also offers oenotourism experiences, focusing on nature, well-being, and offering educational trails, sensory experiences, and cultural events.
