Château de Saint-Martin Provence Alpes Côte d'AzurChâteau de Saint-Martin: A Remarkable Winemaking History
Château de Saint-Martin is a renowned estate with a strong historical legacy and a rich architectural heritage. The Romans cultivated vines here as early as the 2nd century BC, followed by the monks of Lérins who maintained the vineyard from the 10th to the 18th century. Since 1740, the estate has remained within the same French noble family, passed down predominantly from mother to daughter. Today, it seamlessly blends a tradition of hospitality with a range of elegant and refined wines.
Exceptional Terroir: Crafting Distinctive Wines at Château de Saint-Martin
Situated at an elevation of 130 meters, the Château de Saint-Martin vineyard lies at the intersection of two geological zones, producing wines of strong character with a preserved identity and authenticity. To the south, the terroir is defined by the crystalline formations of the Maures, with red schists, coarse sandstone, fine clay, quartz grains, and silt from the debris of the slopes. To the north, the vineyards benefit from Triassic period formations, featuring one-meter-thick clay layers and vermiculated limestone from the primary age, both of which create an ideal environment for cultivating high-quality vines and producing exceptional wines.
