Château de Champ-Renard: A Blend of Winemaking Tradition and Eco-Responsible Excellence

Located in Blacé, at the heart of Beaujolais, just 40 km from Lyon, Château de Champ-Renard is a prestigious wine estate that combines heritage, expertise, and ecological commitment. Since its acquisition in 2014 by Denis Garnier and Fabienne Vilain, the estate has undergone a significant transformation to produce characterful wines while embracing a sustainable and innovative approach. Today, the château is renowned for its distinguished wines, exclusive wine tourism experiences, and an exceptional venue for weddings, seminars, and corporate events.

A Historic Estate and Unique Terroir

Founded in the 13th century and transformed into a vineyard in 1765 by the Marquis d’Espinay de Laye, Château de Champ-Renard is steeped in history. It is situated on a unique terroir at 320 meters in altitude, with a southeast exposure, featuring siliceous, clay-limestone, and granite soils. The 7.5-hectare vineyard is planted with iconic Beaujolais Villages grape varieties, including Gamay and Gamaret for red wines, as well as Chardonnay for white wines. Thanks to diverse soil compositions and a sustainable viticulture approach, the wines offer a rich and expressive aromatic profile, blending red fruits and floral notes.

Eco-Responsible Winemaking and Award-Winning Wines

Château de Champ-Renard has embraced sustainable viticulture, achieving HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) level 3 certification and Terra Vitis accreditation. The estate is also undergoing organic conversion, demonstrating its strong commitment to preserving the terroir and biodiversity. Additionally, all wines are certified vegan, meaning no animal-derived products are used in the winemaking process.

The wines are crafted without chaptalization or added sulfites and are aged in a variety of vessels, including stainless steel tanks, concrete vats, and oak barrels. This meticulous process ensures the production of high-quality wines, frequently recognized in renowned wine guides such as Gilbert & Gaillard, Parker, and Decanter.

A Unique Wine Tourism Experience

Château de Champ-Renard goes beyond Beaujolais Villages AOC wine production by offering an immersive journey into the world of winemaking. Visitors can enjoy guided tours, tasting workshops, and exclusive events, including art exhibitions and product launches. Guests can explore the historic Beaujolais cellar, savor a Beaujolais Blacé AOP white wine, or indulge in a structured red wine with black cherry notes. The château also serves as a perfect venue for wine lovers and corporate clients seeking to host a seminar in the heart of Beaujolais.

An Exceptional Venue for Weddings and Corporate Events

Château de Champ-Renard is a prestigious destination for weddings and professional events. It features several versatile spaces, including La Salle de Justice, a refined and authentic venue ideal for receptions, gala dinners, and corporate meetings. With century-old trees, a paved esplanade, and enchanting nighttime lighting, the château offers a fairy-tale setting for couples wishing to celebrate their union in a historic and romantic location.

Charming Accommodations & Wine Tourism Retreats

To extend the experience, the estate offers elegant accommodations in L’Appartement du Cocher and L’Appartement du Paradis, decorated in a chic countryside style, blending exposed stone walls with vintage furniture. A stay at the château provides an opportunity to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of Beaujolais, while immersing in the French art of living.
