The Cesse Valley Vines: A Unique Terroir
The estate's vineyards, including the famous ‘Les Crozes’, are located at an altitude of 100 metres above sea level, in the Cesse valley. This special terroir is distinguished by its complex soils, made up of rolled pebbles, sandstone and clay, with the presence of alluvial soils providing great diversity for the development of the vines.
The Plateau de Cazelles, at an altitude of 180 metres, offers stony soils containing around three per cent natural organic matter, resting on a clay-limestone subsoil typical of the region. This diversity of soils favours a wide variety of grape varieties, carefully chosen for their suitability to the climate and terroir. The white wines are made from varieties such as Maccabeu, Roussanne, Vermentino, Grenache blanc and Muscat petits grains. The red wines are made from Syrah, Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Cinsault, offering a rich, balanced range of aromas.
