Exceptional Terroir and Organic Commitment
Château Castigno, under the stewardship of Tine Claeys and Marc Verstraete, revives an historic estate nestled in the heart of the South of France. With a deep connection to its surroundings, the couple embarked on a mission to restore the vineyards to their former glory. The estate's unique terroir plays a central role in crafting wines that tell a story of nature, tradition, and sustainability.
A Sustainable Vineyard with a Vision
Château Castigno stands at the forefront of sustainable viticulture. The estate, committed to organic farming practices, offers a selection of fine wines crafted with care. The vines, which average over 50 years old, produce small volumes of exceptional grapes, thanks to the dedication of vineyard manager Clément Mengus. The transition to biodynamic viticulture further enhances the estate's commitment to preserving the environment.
The Most Original Wine Cellar in France
Recognized as one of the most unique wine cellars in France by Midi Libre, Château Castigno’s cellar takes the shape of a giant wine bottle, entirely covered in cork. This architectural wonder represents the estate's blend of creativity and respect for nature.
Vines with History: Over a Century of Wine Heritage
The vineyard’s 32 hectares of old vines, some of which are over a hundred years old, yield exceptional wines. The vines, naturally tended by horse, benefit from a slow and late ripening process, allowing them to fully express the terroir's unique characteristics.
