Biology and Biodynamics at Champagne Régis Poissinet
Champagne Régis Poissinet is located in the historic heart of Champagne, the Vallée de la Marne. This family estate, spanning 7 hectares, has been cultivating vines since the 17th century. Today, Régis Poissinet and his son Maxime (the sixth generation) work together to continue the family legacy. Régis Poissinet is deeply passionate about working the land and respecting the environment.
In 2008, upon taking over the estate, Régis introduced a cultural and philosophical shift, transitioning the entire production to organic and biodynamic farming. The vines, around 40 years old, are spread across various argilo-calcareous and silty-calcareous terroirs. They thrive in their natural environment, receiving tailored care and great attention. The Meunier grape variety is the most planted on the estate, followed by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Accompaniers, Not Interveners
Régis and Maxime Poissinet dedicate themselves to bringing out the best in their cuvées by attentively listening to their vats and barrels. They prefer to see themselves as accompaniers rather than interveners. Their prestigious cuvées include Terre D’Irizée, Irizée Meunier, and Irizée Chardonnay. In Greek mythology, Irizée is the messenger of the gods, linking the earth to the sky, gods to humans, and uniting all cosmic elements to give meaning to life.
