A Noble Heritage: The Legacy of Maison Marc Champagne
The history of Maison Marc is deeply intertwined with that of France, embodying nobility both in heart and spirit. The story began in 1626 when Monseigneur François de Baradat, owner of a vineyard in Fleury-la-Rivière in Champagne and a prominent gentleman of Louis XIII, was exiled by Richelieu for a duel with the Marquis de Seguier and amorous intrigues. Upon his return, François de Baradat bequeathed his estate, which became the legacy of Champagne Arthur Marc, celebrating his passion and noble heritage.
An Exceptional Terroir: The Essence of Maison Marc’s Champagne
Maison Marc benefits from a unique terroir that is ideal for crafting exceptional Champagnes. The thirty-year-old vines, grown in argilo-calcareous soils and bathed in sunlight, yield generous fruits. The estate is home to the three principal Champagne grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier, which allow the House to produce rich and diverse cuvées. To maintain the highest quality, Maison Marc practices sustainable farming, focusing on low yields and meticulous harvests, ensuring the preservation of the land that provides its finest grapes.
