Maison Gruet: The Legacy of a Family Passion in the Heart of the Côte des Bar
Since 1670, Maison Gruet has been part of the rich history of the Champagne terroir, rooted in the village of Buxeuil. Heirs to a centuries-old tradition, the Gruet family has passed down their passion for the vine and their expertise from generation to generation, as reflected in nearby lieux-dits like "Bas-Gruet" and "Sur-Gruet." A decisive turning point came in 1975 when Claude Gruet, true to this heritage, began marketing his first cuvées. Today, alongside his son Pierre-Charles, he continues to carry forward the soul and identity of this historic house.
An Exceptional Terroir Serving Noble Grape Varieties
Located in the heart of the Côte des Bar, Maison Gruet works with an exceptional terroir between Bar-sur-Aube and Bar-sur-Seine, where 8,000 hectares of vines flourish on sun-drenched hillsides. In this rich environment, Claude and Pierre-Charles carefully cultivate the region’s noble grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier. Respecting Champagne traditions while embracing modern techniques, their patiently crafted cuvées reveal the full complexity and finesse of this unique terroir, offering the world Champagnes of rare elegance.
