Portraits of winemakers
Vignobles Victoire d’Affaux

Vignobles Victoire d’Affaux: A Centuries-Old Family Legacy
Vignobles Victoire d’Affaux traces its origins back to 1691, in the heart of Beaujolais, on lands cultivated by 14 generations of a family with Provençal, Lyonnais, Auvergnat, and Charolais roots. For over 350 years, this lineage of winemakers has been dedicated to unlocking the potential of Beaujolais terroirs through exceptional wines. Today, Gauthier Rebillard d’Affaux, a passionate young winemaker, represents the new generation, bringing a modern and ambitious vision to the estate. At just 21 years old, he embarked on the bold journey of creating a vineyard from scratch, embracing renewal and innovation while staying deeply rooted in Beaujolais traditions. Gauthier Rebillard d’Affaux grew up in this world, inspired by his grandfather, who instilled in him a profound love for wine. His first harvest in 2020, surrounded by family and friends, was a pivotal moment—confirming his calling as a winemaker. Today, his ambition is clear: to craft high-quality wines that derive their elegance from the Beaujolais terroir. Through meticulous craftsmanship, a modern approach, and a deep respect for nature, he is shaping the future of Vignobles Victoire d’Affaux, with a single goal in mind: to pass on a preserved and enhanced heritage to future generations.
Vignobles Victoire d’Affaux: Tradition and Innovation at the Heart of Beaujolais
The Vignobles Victoire d’Affaux estate spans 9 hectares across four prestigious appellations: Moulin-à-Vent, Saint-Amour, Fleurie, and Bourgogne Blanc. Each cuvée is crafted from a rigorous parcel selection, highlighting the diversity and richness of the soils. This approach ensures wines with unique organoleptic profiles, precisely reflecting the identity of each terroir. The estate embraces a philosophy of renewal, where elegance and modernity merge to offer wine lovers innovative experiences. Beyond winemaking, the estate enriches its spirit with pioneering initiatives, including:
● Guided vineyard walks through historic lieux-dits.
● Contemporary art exhibitions integrated into the estate.
● Unique accommodations nestled within the vineyards.
● A dedicated tasting cellar, set to open in 2025, in the heart of the Moulin-à-Vent appellation. Through these initiatives, the estate seeks to redefine the wine experience by offering an immersive and cultural approach. A Strong Commitment to Sustainability Aware of environmental challenges, the estate has initiated a transition towards more sustainable viticulture. Since 2019, it has been certified High Environmental Value (HVE3) and has completely eliminated chemical herbicides. Organic farming has become a natural choice, with an ongoing conversion to preserve biodiversity and enrich the soil through responsible practices such as:
● Reintroducing agroforestry, planting hedgerows, and restoring drainage ditches.
● Restoring historical structures, including cadoles (stone shelters), dry-stone walls, and old wells.
● Protecting local flora and fauna, ensuring a harmonious ecosystem.
Each cuvée from Vignobles Victoire d’Affaux is crafted with meticulous attention, from grape selection to precise aging in the cellar. The winemaker’s dedication results in wines that are:
● Refined, with a vinification process that enhances delicate aromas.
● Precise, with meticulous care at every stage of production.
● Balanced, achieving perfect harmony between fruit, freshness, and structure.
The emblematic grape varieties of Beaujolais—Gamay for reds and Chardonnay for whites—are elevated through cuvées that showcase the elegance and authenticity of the terroir.
