LASCAUX VINEYARDS: A COUPLE OF WINEGROWERS IN THE BORDEAUX SUPÉRIEUR AND FRONSAC APPELLATIONS

Vignobles Lascaux: Family Legacy and a New Era
Since 1920, the vineyard property nestled in Saint Martin du Bois, between the prestigious Bordeaux and Fronsac appellations, has been the cradle of a rich and deep family heritage. Under the stewardship of Fabrice and Sylvie Lascaux, the estate has undergone remarkable evolution, forging an unbreakable link between the past and the present. In December 2022, the arrival of Mr. Plas and his wife marked the beginning of a new era, promising modernization and expansion envisioned with respect for the spirit of the place.
A Commitment to Sustainable Viticulture
Spanning 33 hectares of vines, Vignobles Lascaux showcases a diverse range of grape varieties, from the dominant Merlot to Sauvignon Blanc and Gris, with a resolute focus on environmentally friendly viticulture. The Haute Valeur Environnementale level 4 certification underscores their commitment to sustainable viticulture, where each vine row reflects the health of the argilo-calcareous and sandy terroir. The diversity of production, ranging from structured red wines to refreshing clairets and elegant sparkling wines, results from an ongoing quest for quality and authenticity.
Climate Challenges and Innovative Responses
Facing the whims of the climate, the Vignobles Lascaux team meets the challenge with unwavering determination. Fluctuating weather conditions and phytosanitary pressures test the resilience and ingenuity of the estate, pushing Fabrice and his team to adapt their cultivation and winemaking methods. Among the adopted solutions is the choice to plant cover crops between each vine plot to prevent soil erosion from runoff, fostering biodiversity, particularly insects and nematodes. The goal remains unchanged: to extract the essence of each vintage to offer wines that celebrate the uniqueness of their terroir.
A Legacy Enriched with Innovation and Expansion
The future of Vignobles Lascaux is rooted in the continuity of the work begun by previous generations, enriched by a desire for innovation and openness. Expanding the wine range, enhancing new plantings, and developing wine tourism are avenues being explored to make the estate shine well beyond its current borders.
Vignobles Lascaux: Family Spirit and Shared Passion
The passion for wine, a strong common thread among team members, is evident in their daily commitment. Whether in the sunlit Bordeaux vineyards or in the cellar where the cuvées are crafted, the extended Lascaux family shares a single ambition: to perpetuate the family spirit while exploring new paths to delight wine enthusiasts.
Through every bottle from Vignobles Lascaux, a story of family, passion, and renewal is told, inviting enthusiasts to discover or rediscover the essence of a vibrant and inspired terroir. The terroirs of Château Lascaux in Bordeaux and Château Tour Bel-Air in Fronsac are preserved by healthy viticulture, minimizing chemical interventions, and continue to produce exceptional wines for nearly 100 years!
