STRAWBERRY TART AND WINE: 2 PERFECT MATCHES

WHAT TO DRINK WITH A STRAWBERRY TART?
Choosing the right wine to accompany a strawberry tart is crucial. Here are two perfect pairings for a delicious strawberry tart, so you’ll have no excuses the next time you need to bring a dessert and wine to your in-laws!
1) The Classic Pairing: With a Rosé Champagne
You might recall the famous scene in Pretty Woman where Richard Gere suggests a delightful strawberry and champagne pairing to Julia Roberts. And he’s absolutely right, as the tart and sweet flavor of strawberries pairs perfectly with the freshness and delicate bubbles of champagne. For a strawberry tart, we highly recommend a Rosé Champagne. The fruity character of the champagne and its red fruit aromas will complement and enhance the flavor of the strawberries. A Rosé Crémant from the Loire, Burgundy, or Alsace would also be a great choice for this pairing.
2) The Original Pairing: With a Rosé Wine
If Champagne isn’t your style or if you’re looking for something more original, consider a sweet natural Rosé wine or a light red wine. In the strawberry tart and wine pairing, focusing on red fruit is key. Choose a fruity wine with pronounced aromas, low tannins, and a round palate with good aromatic persistence. Its residual sugar (the sugar from the grape that hasn’t been converted into alcohol) will complement the fleshy texture of the strawberries, while its light tannins will contrast nicely with the creamy pastry cream and the crispness of the tart crust. A Rosé Liqueur wine from Floc-de-Gascogne or a red wine from Pineau des Charentes would be ideal.
