3 ZANY WINE INITIATIVES

Three Unusual Wine Innovations You Might Not Know About
We had fun listing three of these unique wine creations.
1) Blue Wine for a Party in Spain
In the world of “wine and color,” blue wine takes center stage. In 2014, six Spanish friends launched “Gik,” the very first blue wine designed for parties. Made from both white and red grapes, the nectar is infused with indigo pigments, giving it a striking resemblance to curaçao. However, the flavors of Gik are nothing like the Caribbean orange liqueur. According to an article in Le Parisien, this wine has "a sweet taste with low acidity." The creators, eager to stand out, claim they did it "for fun," but the choice of blue—symbolizing movement and innovation—might not be accidental.
2) Cat Wine… Because It’s Cute (Or Not)
Next stop: Japan, with an unusual invention—cat wine. Launched in 2014 and named Nyan Nyan Nouveau (Miaou Nouveau), this non-alcoholic beverage is a mix of catnip and Cabernet Franc grape juice. Produced by the Japanese company B&H, this invention reportedly came from the demand of several Japanese pet owners who wanted a festive drink for their beloved felines to celebrate Christmas or their birthdays properly. However, this idea turned out to be more of a flop, as the cats weren’t interested in it at all!

3) Wine-Flavored Kit-Kats Made in Japan
We continue with the Japanese, known for their bold initiatives and love of wine. They are also fans of Kit-Kats. In Japan, these chocolate-covered wafer bars come in unexpected flavors like tofu, wasabi, and white vinegar. One of the latest flavors is red wine Kit-Kat, a vibrant pink treat made with Merlot. The combination is so surprising that the bravest and most curious among you might want to give it a try. However, you’ll need to order online or take a flight from Paris to Tokyo, as they are currently only available in Japan.
