DOMAINE DE LA MORDORÉE: A FAMILY VINEYARD

A Sanctuary of Nature and Biodiversity
Domaine de la Mordorée, located in the Rhône Valley, is a haven where biodiversity thrives.
Founded in 1986 by Francis Delorme and his son Christophe, this family estate now spans 42 hectares across several appellations such as Tavel, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Lirac, Côtes-du-Rhône, and Condrieu. The estate emphasizes a deep respect for nature and the terroir, with a philosophy centered on harmony between people, the land, and living things. Every parcel has been cultivated organically since 2013 and biodynamically since 2020, ensuring wines that are both authentic and environmentally friendly.
The surrounding landscape, composed of garrigue, sunshine, and diverse wildlife, inspires every step of the winemaking process. Now led by Madeleine and Ambre Delorme, the family continues to nurture this legacy with passion. They constantly seek to improve the quality of their wines while preserving the integrity of the terroir. Their approach allows each grape variety to express itself freely, reflecting the richness and complexity of the Rhône Valley’s soils.
Preservation of Nature at the Heart of Domaine de la Mordorée’s Philosophy
The philosophy at Domaine de la Mordorée has always been driven by respect for the land and all living things. Every intervention in the vineyard is designed to promote biodiversity and enhance soil health. This respect translates into organic farming and biodynamic certification. These commitments preserve soil vitality and produce wines that allow the terroir to fully express itself, avoiding artificial interventions that could disrupt the natural balance.
This approach is supported by concrete initiatives to protect biodiversity, such as a partnership with the Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux (LPO) and the Terres & des Ailes association. In 2023, the estate took another step forward by planting 300 trees as part of an agroforestry project, further demonstrating its commitment to the environment. These actions reflect a long-standing dedication to coexisting harmoniously with nature.
Authentic Wines True to Their Terroir
The estate continues to thrive under the leadership of Madeleine and Ambre Delorme, who took over after Christophe’s passing. Their greatest motivation is to honor Christophe’s legacy by producing wines that faithfully reflect the terroir of the Rhône Valley. Every day, they work diligently to preserve the landscapes and biodiversity of the estate, while ensuring that each vintage brings out the best of the vines. The estate's cuvées, such as “La Dame Rousse” and “La Dame Voyageuse,” pay homage to the woodcocks that inhabit the surrounding areas, further connecting the wines to their natural environment.
Tavel, one of the estate’s flagship wines, perfectly embodies this philosophy. Rich, round, and complex, this unique wine is crafted to suit all moments in life, offering both freshness and warmth depending on the season. It symbolizes the estate’s commitment to creating wines that appeal to both enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. Domaine de la Mordorée is thus a place where tradition, respect for nature, and innovation meet to offer exceptional wines, reflecting the uniqueness of this terroir.
