Portraits of winemakers
CHAMPAGNE ANTHONY BETOUZET: BETWEEN TRADITION AND MODERNITY

Champagne Anthony Betouzet: A Legacy of Excellence and Innovation
A New Chapter in Champagne
It’s safe to say that champagne runs in the veins of Anthony and Émilie. Both hailing from Champagne winemaking families, they have been managing the Champagne Anthony Betouzet brand together since 2016.
A Fresh Start
Both winemakers pursued higher education in business and marketing. While Émilie made her mark in the paper and craft industry, Anthony joined his brother and parents at the family estate, Maison Betouzet-Brugneau, in 2004. There, he learned the winemaking trade alongside his family.
Ten years later, with his parents retiring, the two brothers decided to divide the winemaking legacy: "We had different goals, both in terms of vinification and champagne marketing," Anthony explains. The winemaker then started from scratch to develop his own brand and cuvées.
Two Distinct Champagne Ranges
Officially launched in 2016, the Champagne Anthony Betouzet brand offers two cuvée ranges: "Les Essentielles" and "Les Éphémères." The first range includes three champagnes made from the three classic Champagne grape varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir): a blended rosé, a 2010 vintage brut champagne, and a 2006 vintage champagne presented in a special bottle. "This range is permanently available and represents the flagship champagnes of our brand, hence the name 'essential' cuvées," Anthony and Émilie clarify.
Champagne Anthony Betouzet: Committed to Sustainable Viticulture
As the name suggests, the second range, "Les Éphémères," is released only twice a year in limited editions, with 1,000 to 2,000 bottles per release. "This is a more exclusive range featuring only vintage champagnes suitable for specific occasions such as festive food and wine pairings."
This range exemplifies the subtle blend of tradition and modernity that defines Champagne Anthony Betouzet: modern, unconventional packaging in black and white, paired with a respect for traditional winemaking methods. "All our bottles are hand-turned," notes Anthony. This reflects both the marketing background of the two winemakers and Anthony's family winemaking heritage.
With the brand expanding rapidly, Champagne Anthony Betouzet is pursuing various future projects. The most imminent: the release of a 2012 extra-brut vintage champagne scheduled for March to celebrate the arrival of spring…
