Côt is valued for its tannic power, deep color, and aromas of black fruits, spices, and violets. It produces rich and structured wines with excellent aging potential.

While Malbec has gained worldwide fame through the wines of Argentina, its original name, Côt, is still used in France, particularly in Cahors and the Loire Valley.
