Cépage : Grape variety : Côt
Côt, more commonly known as Malbec, is a red grape variety originating from southwestern France. Historically cultivated in the Loire Valley and the Cahors vineyard, it was long used in blends before gaining recognition as the flagship grape of Cahors AOC wines.
Côt is valued for its tannic power, deep color, and aromas of black fruits, spices, and violets. It produces rich and structured wines with excellent aging potential.
While Malbec has gained worldwide fame through the wines of Argentina, its original name, Côt, is still used in France, particularly in Cahors and the Loire Valley. This iconic grape variety continues to produce exceptional wines, showcasing different expressions depending on the terroir and climate in which it is grown.
